Health and wellness is on nearly everyone's mind these days as
people are striving to recover the good health they once had or to
maintain the good health they currently enjoy. There are many ways to
achieve better health, but one of the most vital is to have a feeling of
love and appreciation from others. This factor can have healthy effects
for the giver and the receiver. Without it, most people may suffer from
physical and mental strain and distress, causing sickness and disease.
Andy Rooney, who died on November 4, 2011, at the age of 92, was well known to viewers of the weekly CBS News program, 60 Minutes. He was an American radio and television writer who was a regular on the show from 1978 to 2011. He made the final regular appearance of his career on October 2, 2011, but his retirement was short lived. He died one month later.
People generally enjoyed Andy Rooney because of the wise quips which he shared in his dead pan manner each week. He wrote a number of items which stated things that he had learned over the years. One thing he said was that under eveyone's hard shell or grouchy self is someone who merely wants to be appreciated and loved.
Showing appreciation and love to someone could be a valuable experience for the giver as well as the receiver. A simple act of kindness such as showing gratitude to another human being could make the day for a person. It is not a hard thing to do, and it certainly does not take much time or effort to say thank you or to give a smile to another person.
Even the grouchiest of people can mellow and become nicer if they are treated kindly and shown some love. Television shows or movies sometimes feature a group of children who befriend a reclusive, unpleasant old man who becomes a changed person when shown kindness instead of contempt and fear. Nearly everyone can change into a different person if and when he is treated well.
People who do not feel love, affection, and appreciation may suffer physical problems and mental problems which could include losing the will to live. Life holds little meaning without love.
It is an easy matter for most people to show some love and appreciation even to strangers. Doing this for family members is essential for their health and happiness. Sharing a useful product or a business opportunity may seem like a nuisance, but it may be a way to show care and concern for others. A smile or a kind word can do much for the fulfillment of others. Everyone wants to be loved and appreciated. Feeling that way will be beneficial for the health and well being of those involved.
